Vera Babida is a Halifax-based illustrator, designer, animator. She is currently an Art Director for Atlanta-based Animation & Design Studio, Fern.
Experienced in storyboarding, illustrating and conceptual development. Her personal work has been featured in numerous design platforms & magazines such as Frankie Magazine, It’s Nice That, Motiongrapher, Pictoplasma and WeTransfer. Her collaboration with Robert Duncan ‘Nina & Flick’ was nominated for a BAFTA Scotland New Talent Award in 2016.
To date, Vera has worked with a diverse range of clients including Netflix, Cheerios, Twitter, Hort Innovation Australia, La Trobe University and more. Her work with Murdoch Books and Alice Zaslavsky ‘In Praise of Veg’ won the Illustrated Book of the Year category at ABIA 2021, longlisted for Best Illustrated Non-fiction award at Indie Book Awards 2021 and Best Designed Cookbook at Australian Book Design Awards 2021.
In the past, she has worked in branding and advertising for Melbourne-based branding and digital agency, Love + Money.
She has also worked as a Junior Art Director at Halifax-based animation studio Wonderlust. Both key work experiences had allowed her to dip into a wide range of skill sets. She continues to evolve as she works with Fern.
